2026 Demonstration Program
Our Demonstrating Artists Program is one of the most popular features of the Camberwell Art Show.
Ten leading artists will create original works live across a variety of mediums, offering visitors a unique opportunity to observe their techniques and creative processes firsthand.
All works produced during the demonstration will be available for purchase at the conclusion of each session.
Follow the signs to the upstairs Demonstrating Artists Room, accessible by both lift and stairs.
Please note, participating artists and times are correct at time of printing. Download the timetable in pdf format here or vew artist’s bios here.
| Date | Time | Artist | Medium | Subject |
| Saturday 4th July | 11.00am | Salvatore Trigila | Drawing Pencil | Salvatore will be drawing with soft pencil on Fabriano paper, approximate size A2, observing form, textures and space that describe three objects: glass, porcelain and stainless steel. |
| 2.00pm | David Chen | Oil | I don’t paint what I see, I paint what I want to see. | |
| Sunday 5th July | 11.00am | Vicki McInnes | Oil | I will work on a still life in oils and the importance of the process of observation when working directly from the subject. Elements of my demonstration will include how I set up my palette, colour mixing and how to make adjustments as a painting develops. |
| 2.00pm | Maxine Wade | Watercolour | Maxine will be demonstrating a snow scene in watercolour for Camberwell Rotary Art Show 2026. | |
| Monday 6th July | 11.00am | Lee Machelak | Oil | Lee will paint an alla prima, traditional portrait in oil. Painting directly form the model she will demonstrate her traditional technique of building the portrait and likeness from the ground up. |
| 2.00pm | Ray Wilson | Oil | Ray will demonstrate his direct approach to painting a still life and will complete a still life painting, whilst providing tips and explaining his approach. | |
| Saturday 11th July | 11.00am | Jo-Anne Seberry | Pastel | She will be painting a seascape, one of the many varied subjects that she enjoys to paint. |
| 2.00pm | Jenny Croom | Oil | Winner of the 2025 inaugural ABC Portrait Artist of the Year. Defined, almost classically rendered parts of a face will be balanced with broken edges and visible brush marks elsewhere. Suggestion instead of clarity in some parts of a painting, make crisp definition elsewhere more eloquent. | |
| Sunday 12th July | 11.00am | Joseph Zbukvic | Watercolour | Demonstration subject? I always decide on a subject just before the demonstration. It could be something I saw nearby, or whatever I feel like painting at the time. Inspiration comes first, painting second. |
| 2.00pm | Herman Pekel | Watercolour | I will be demonstrating a full sheet watercolour landscape. I’ve always believed for me painting was more about paint application than conceptualism. |
We thank these artists for their demonstration of painting techniques during the Show.
Paintings will be For Sale / By Auction after each Demonstration
Free Art Show entry for artists. Artists with accepted paintings will be entitled to free entry on Artists’ Day on Monday 6th July. Artists who present their Entry Receipt will receive one free entry on that day.
