Exciting Plans for 2019 Camberwell Art Show
The Camberwell Art Show has a large winners pool with artists competing for $40,000 in prizes including a $20,000 best in show. The prize pool has been increased by $2500 in 2019 with an additional award for Drawing.
Our unstinting focus on quality where we showcase the country's best paintings to the highest standards provided art lovers and artists with the best gallery experience. There was high praise for the standard of the exhibition and the presentation of the art by our Curator Brenda Innes and her large team.
Swinburne University of Technology continues to generously provide the home for the Camberwell Art Show at its modern steel and glass ATC Building at 427 Burwood Road Hawthorn. The ATC Building is transformed into 4 state of art galleries to professionally showcase the paintings for the 9 day exhibition.
The show gets off to a flying start with a packed Gala Opening on Friday 28th June where over good wine and canapés patrons have the first choice of the art and witness the unveiling of the winning art. The night proves a boon for exhibiting artists as many works are eagerly snapped up by admiring patrons.
Revamped Program for 2019
We have revamped our program in order to invite more patrons and have them enjoy more time in the gallery. The evenings are set aside as special nights where patrons can take in the atmosphere over wine and cheese. Several Rotary Clubs conducted fellowship evening at the art show during the course of the week. Major sponsor Bendigo Community Bank (Canterbury, Balwyn, Surrey Hills and Ashburton) have been allocated an evening in which to invite their clients. Silver sponsors SSX Security, Manningtree Hawthorn and Twelve Bottles Wine Distributors invited their guests on Friday evening to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the experience amongst the best art for sale in the country.
Our artists demonstration events are a popular feature and eager patrons will see 10 artists in action. Artist day on Monday was also a popular event and was free for all artists who entered the show.
The Camberwell Art Show is conducted by the Rotary Club of Camberwell and since 1964 the community has been the beneficiary with over $3m contributed to the many Rotary programs. A further sizable contribution will be made to support our community and our programs following the successful 2018 event.
