This year artists competed for $37500 in prizes including a $20000 best in show which was won by Sydney artist Julie Simmons for her oil Ancients on the Barka. A full list of prize winners can be found on this site under Winners 2018.

Our unstinting focus on quality where we showcase the country's best paintings to the highest standards provided art lovers and artists with the best gallery experience. There was high praise for the standard of the exhibition and the presentation of the art by our Curator Brenda Innes and her large team.

Swinburne University of Technology continues to generously provide the home for the Camberwell Art Show at its modern steel and glass ATC Building at 427 Burwood Road Hawthorn. The ATC Building is transformed into 4 state of art galleries to professionally showcase the paintings for the 9 day exhibition.

The show got off to a flying start with a packed Gala Opening on Friday 6th July where over good wine and canapés patrons had the first choice of the art and witnessed the unveiling of the winning art. The night proved a boon for exhibiting artists as 122 works were eagerly snapped up by admiring patrons. In all some 300 paintings were sold during the course of the show.

Revamped Program for 2018

We revamped our program in order to invite more patrons and have them enjoy more time in the gallery. The evenings were set aside as special nights with Monday a community event in conjunction with Australian Food Allergy Association and the Murdoch Children's Research Institute. Several Rotary Clubs conducted fellowship evening at the art show during the course of the week. Major sponsors Parke Lawyers and Bendigo Community bank were each allocated an evening each in which to invite their clients. Silver sponsors SSX Security, Manningtree Hawthorn and Twelve Bottles Wine Distributors invited their guests on Friday evening to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the experience amongst the best art for sale in the country.

Our artists demonstration events saw 10 artists in action and were packed out with eager patrons. Artist day on Monday was also a popular event and was free for all artists who entered the show.

The Camberwell Art Show is conducted by the Rotary Club of Camberwell and since 1964 the community has been the beneficiary with over $3m contributed to the many Rotary programs. A further sizable contribution will be made to support our community and our programs following the successful 2018 event.
