Zai Kuang has Bachelor and Masters of Fine Art in Academy of Fine Art, Tsinghua University in China, also Masters of Fine Art (by research) at Monash University in Australia. He won “Calleen Art Award”, “He Who Dreams Art Prize,” and First Prize in “St. Kevin’s Art Show”. He also won Second Prize in “Mentone Art Competition”, and Highly Commend Prize in “The City of Albany Art Prize”, “Willoughby City Art Prize”, “Cambridge Studio Gallery’s Portrait Prize”, and “Manning Art Prize”. He was a finalist in Doug Moran National Portrait Prize, Archibald Prize, Sulman Prize, Fleurieu Bienale Art Prize, Albany Art Prize, Redland Art Awards, Willoughby Art Prize, R & M McGiven Art Prize, Lexus Mortimore Prize, the A.M.E. BALE Art Prize, Shirley Hannan National Portrait Award, EMSLA, National Still Life Award, Naked & Nude Art Prize, SBS Portrait Prize and Wyndham Art Prize. In China, he was a finalist in the National Young Artist Exhibition, the 8th National Art Exhibition, the 2th National Still life Exhibition and the National Sport Exhibition. He has a number of works in public collections including Cowra Regional Art Gallery, BHP Billiton, Monash University, Macquarie University, and private collections worldwide.
