Biography

Words like 'joyful' and 'vibrant' are used often to describe Sharon DeSailly's contemporary paintings. Use of brilliant colours in oils and acrylics, and bold texture are recognisable elements in her style. So is her great love of the Australian country and way of life. As a full time artist living in Bayside, Melbourne, as well as being an avid traveller within Australia and abroad, she easily finds the inspiration and drive to pay tribute to beauty in our everyday life. Through her paintings, the viewer is invited into the scene to 'be there' in an almost tactile way. Her paintings often favour aerial views or deep perspective.
DeSailly's contemporary impressionist approach lends itself to any subject. Her gallery transports the viewer from the long distance perspective of a vivid seaside sunset, to highly textured trees against the intense rich hues and powerful rock formations outback Australia; to beautiful fragrant flowers in riotous cottage gardens; to a cat napping in a Tuscan farm potted lemon tree, or a flock of playful cockatoos.
Paintings by Sharon DeSailly celebrate all living beauty. She is a third generation Australian painter, benefiting from a lifetime of learning to ‘see’ the natural world.
Through her wonderful, original works of art DeSailly brings joy into the homes and lives of collectors across Australia and in several countries around the world. She is recognised as a Featured Artist on BlueThumb and also exhibits on ArtLovers Australia as well as in galleries and Rotary art shows around the country. Sharon is Vice President of the Brighton Art Society.
