RILEY ROBYN – CV
I hope to encourage you to see my native animal subjects as vulnerable, individual and relevant, as we are.”
Artist Statement - Sadly l fear I am recording our animals in their gloriousness for our future generations.
I am deeply moved by the fragility of their environment and their reliance on our consideration and responsibility for their survival.
My aim is to intrigue the viewer enough to pause and look into their eyes.
Art should evoke emotion and the emotions I wish to stir are that of understanding and thoughtfulness. The subjects of my art are the animals portrayed without embellishment to focus the viewer’s perception. Enjoy.
Artist Bio - My heart has been driven by art my whole life.
Earlier I was exhibiting in the picturesque Dandenong Ranges with the Sherbrooke Art Society for a number of years where I sold many pieces and won a number of awards of which are available on request. Awards span from 2000 – 2016. We then moved to Maldon in Central Victoria around 2018 where I now live and work.
I have been exhibiting and selling in my home town of Maldon for the past five years along with being a permanent artist at the exquisite Convent Gallery in Daylesford Victoria for around two years.
I then chose to keep my art local to only Maldon until now so as to offer exclusivity to the purchaser with the knowledge that my work is not mass produced and everywhere. Therefore there are no new awards to show from competition exhibitions as I have not entered them.
My originals are generally sold quickly with runs of limited edition prints on most images.
Over the last two years I have completed the following projects along with my usual output of work -
I was commissioned to produce all of the artwork for a multi- million dollar tourist business due to open in our area named Porcupine Village. This business is close to opening in the next few months. My commission brief covered all the hospitality areas along with motel rooms.
Last year I was commissioned by a Sydney stationer to produce a set of Christmas cards for charity of which I was most happy as they will support the RSPCA, Breast Cancer Network Australia and the Children’s Medical Research Institute. We sold 52,000 packs of 12 cards delivered globally spreading the word of our Aussie wildlife.
This year I was invited by my local shire to hold a solo exhibition to kick off their program highlighting local artists plus completing a number of commissions.
After many years of squeezing my art in between raising a family I am now able to dedicate my time to being a full time artist. Plus I have decided to spread my wings and enter selected art shows again. Please enjoy my work and thank you , Robyn.
