Biography

Art was always the preferred subject for me to express myself. It seemed less complicated than everything else in the world.

This became the main focus in my choice of work as an adult; a transparency retoucher, fashion and product stylist and jewellery design and maker. I was able to surround myself with different forms of Art and fashion to help develop my skills and interests.

I experimented in oils in my late teens however lost interest. Then began working in lead pencil,  on many commissioned portraits on and off.

It was not until 2020 through Covid that I discovered Soft Pastel. Thought it was a hard time for all being in such strict lock downs, the time and space I had to develop my art  and explore the new medium was invaluable. It got me through the isolation and uncertainty of the Covid years. I found the medium to forgiving and obedient. It gave such joy and I had the time to flourish.

Since then I have received 20 awards, including being accepted into the 2023 International Association of Pastel Societies Spring Show. I have no formal training, however I have organised a trip to Florence to study with on of the masters.
