Introduction
I am a mixed-media Melbourne-based artist living in Elsternwick.
My works range from realist, semi abstract and abstract artworks on paper,
board and canvas, and original digital prints on archival quality photographic
rag paper. I studied Art & Design, majoring in printmaking at Victoria College
(now Swinburne) from 1980-1982.
My prints and works on paper are held in various state institutions and
private collections around the world, including the Tasmanian Museum and
Art Gallery.
Coming primarily from a printmaking background, I’m interested in using line,
colour and texture equally with imagery to elicit a contemplative mood in the
viewer. I tend to have an interior view of the world, often drawing on
dreamscapes and imaginings, even when depicting real landscapes.
In 2015 I was lucky enough to do an encaustic workshop at R&F Paints in
upstate New York where my love for the medium was rekindled. I am
currently working almost exclusively in encaustic as it can be used to great
effect on a variety of surfaces in conjunction with other art media.
The technique can be unpredictable sometimes, but always rewarding.
