Margaret Koopmans

  • Biography

Margaret Koopmans has been working in watercolour for 10 years. Her works are inspired by the natural world, particularly plants and birds. She is currently exploring larger-than-life florals in order to bring the viewer a more intimate experience of both native and ornamental flowers. A strong love of still-life reflects the artist’s love of home and family.
Margaret delights in colour and this is clearly reflected in her choice of palette.
All source materials are the artist’s own, acquired through daily wanderings and excursions. As Margaret enjoys painting a variety of topics, she is not given to repetition and each work is therefore unique.
As Margaret believes in producing quality artwork, all paintings are worked on highest quality cotton rag paper. made in France (Arches) or UK (Saunders Waterford). Smaller works are painted on 300gsm and mid to large pieces are done on heavy 640gsm paper. She predominantly uses Winsor & Newton Professional Artists’ Water Colour supplemented by Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors, both of which are valued for their quality and durability.
