  • Biography

    With over 20 years as a practising artist Laurel Foenander is a contemporary realist painter, working in oils. Many of her paintings are held in collections Australia wide and overseas , particularly in the area of Australian native birds. She has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including the Victorian Salon Des Refuse' for the Archibald prize in 2016/17/18. She has won over 100 art awards including : The Vitalis Award : Nowa Nowa Nudes. Best in show awards : Art Gippsland 2012/16, Mirboo Nth Art Show 2017/18. Walhalla Art Show 2014/15. Tanjil Valley Art Show 2016/17/18. Finalist selections in national awards, The Norville Landscape Prize 2012. Destination Daintree 2012. ARC Yinnar Drawing Prize 2012/14/16. In 2019 her work "Survivor"was selected as a finalist in the Bayside Aquisitive Art Prize and her work "Sri Lankan Fishing Boats" was selected in the ANL Maritime Art Award. In 2020 again her work "The Same Boat" was selected for the same award. She is represented by Town and Country Gallery-Yarragon, Hawthorn Studio Gallery, Mingara-Cowes, Nissarana-Mornington and Noosa.
