  • Biography

Lara is a Melbourne-based artist focusing on the natural world, especially birds, in watercolour. She uses a slow and meditative style to bring out the full details and richness of colours in her subjects.

Birds are one of the most varied animals in the world, displaying an astonishing range of sizes, shapes, patterns, colours and behaviours. Australia’s birds are especially diverse, with almost 900 species and nearly half of those being found only in this country. Lara’s work celebrates this diversity by inviting the viewer to notice more about the beautiful birds that live around them every day.

Her paintings have sold to various private collections in Australia, and internationally have made it as far as the United States, United Kingdom and Japan. She was selected as a finalist for three of her paintings in the Wildlife Art Society of Australasia’s 2021 “Almost the Wild Awards” and won a Highly Commended at the RMPS Art Show 2022.
