Kate Smith

Biography

Kate Smith's first career was as a Textile Design Assistant. In 1973 she decided to pursue a career in art. By 1975 she became a self-taught full-time artist.
Having recently turned 77, her popularity is stronger than ever. Kate's wonderful use of pastels and the glorious use of colours she obtains is outstanding and only the finest imported pastels are used with techniques she has developed to produce a quality and richness in her work. Kate is known for her radiant silhouettes of graceful feminine figures, surrounded by mystery and intrigue and always elegant. Her figures seemingly realistic have an attitude but are full of magical beauty.
Kate has held many solo exhibitions both Australia-wide and overseas.
