  • Biography

    Jing was born in China in 1976 and emigrated to Australia in 2006. The beauty of nature, in all its forms, inspired Jing into drawing at a very young age.

    Jing’s background has been diverse, from airport management when living in China to finance and accounting in Australia and now with Officeworks in project management.

    Jing, along with her husband are now raising a daughter who also has a love of drawing and art.

    Since 2016 Jing has attended different adult art classes in various art groups /artists. With the support and encouragement of her arts class Jing has developed her skills in the use of pastel as a preferred medium. She was proud to receive some awards over these years (from latest to oldest):

    Best in Show & Best Pastel of “The Agata Lelek Memorial Award” in Glen Eira Cheltenham Art Group Annual Art Exhibition 2023 “Diamond Anniversary 1963 -2023” for a pastel painting entitled ‘Distracted by the light’

    President’s Award in PSVA 35th Annual Art Exhibition ‘Pastel Brilliance’ 2022 for a pastel painting entitled ‘Distracted by the light’

    Best Work on Paper under $1500 for a pastel painting entitled ‘Rain Through a Pane’ in Camberwell Art Show 2022.

    Commended for a pastel portrait entitled ‘Autumn Pounding’ at the Glen Eira Cheltenham Art Group Exhibition “Divers Arty” 2022.

    Best in Show for a pastel portrait entitled ‘A Stretch of Colour’ at the Glen Eira Cheltenham Art Group Exhibition “Perspectives” 2021.

    Commended for a pastel portrait entitled ‘My Feline Friend’ at the Glen Eira Cheltenham Art Group Exhibition “Perspectives” 2021.

    Encouragement Award for a pastel portrait entitled ‘Grace with her Necklace’ at the Glen Eira Cheltenham Art Group Exhibition “Off the Easel” 2018.

    Jing enjoys painting a variety of subject matters and looks to find images that transfix the viewer and immerse them in thought. Jing finds solace in her art which takes her away from the busy routines of life where she can reflect and appreciate the beauty of life in all its forms.

    Jing is on a journey to learn and hone her skills and grow as an artist.
