Helen Miles

Biography

Over the last thirty five years Helen has thrived on discovering her unique approach to a wide variety of subjects including landscapes, seascapes, florals, bird and animal studies and the whimsical and alternative. She works with pastel, acrylic, watercolour and occasionally mixed media. While Helen enjoys traditional and representational painting she sometimes tests her capabilities and pushes her boundaries into the more contemporary and abstract fields.
The past owner of a successful gallery in Melbourne Helen showcased some of Australia's most well known and emerging artists in regular exhibitions. Her commitment and passion for art is revealed in her involvement in a variety of art societies and committees. She is a past Signature members of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists, Signature member of the Pastel Society of Victoria, past President of the Kilmore Art Society Inc., a member of the Woodend Art Group and is past committee member of the Mitchell Shire Arts & Cultural Advisory Committee. She is also the past Artistic Director of the succressful Kilmore Art Expo which held its inaugural show in 2008.
Australian Artist Magazine, Artist's Palette Magazine and the Vic Pastel magazine have all featured her work. She has entered and sold her works at numerous art shows over many years and to date has won over 125 awards, prizes and commendations. Her work hangs in private and public collections throughout Australia, Japan, USA, New Zealand, Denmark and Scotland.
Helen currently exhibits at Kilmore Art Society's Top Level Art Gallery in Kilmore and a number of online platforms along with regional and metropolitan art shows.
