Danielle Robertson was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. From an early age she loved all things creative, always drawing, painting or sculpting. At 16 she attended Box Hill TAFE college to do a VOP (Vocational Oriention Program) then a TOP (Tertiary Oriention Program) course learning a variety of subjects including photography, painting, printmaking, drawing, life drawing, ceramics etc. After which she decided to enter the graphic arts and successfully completed an Associate Diploma in Finished Art, which led her to work for various design houses. During this time she continued to do life classes and other creative persuits in her spare time.
When time allowed after having a family with three children, she returned to study again and learnt pastels. Twelve years ago she started teaching and believes that this has been most beneficial to her development and confidence as a person and an artist. She continues to teach drawing, painting and pastels at GECAG.
Danielle now works in pastel, oil, coloured pencil, pastel pencil, scratchboard and drawing with many different mediums.
She considers her style as classical - but with a tenderness borne from life experiences - which evokes emotion in the eyes of the viewer.
