Colin Shaw

Biography

Always interested in art as a child and young adult, I began art lessons with a local teacher. In 2011 retirement gave me the freedom and time to fully indulge my passion in painting. After initially painting in oils i was inspired to take up soft pastel and painted in this medium for several years. More recently I have moved to watercolour and now paint mostly in this medium. My preferred subjects are portraiture/figure work and streetscapes. In addition I enjoy drawing and sketching mostly with graphite and charcoal. I have sold many paintings and organised a successful exhibition of my own work. I have also won many awards for my artwork, including best pastel and best watercolour in several art exhibitions.
