Carla Edgerton

  • Biography

Early training in tonal realism formed a strong foundation for Carla Edgerton's style. After demonstrating a keen interest in art from a young age, Edgerton commenced classes at The McClelland Gallery under the tutelage of artist Fiona Bilbrough, who enthusiastically taught the Meldrum Method to a bunch of teenagers after school. She then spent time studying in Bergamo, Italy, and then later completed a Bachelor of Visual Art at Monash University. Her work captures beauty in the ordinary, and uncovers narratives within the seemingly mundane. She draws inspiration from the diversity of the world and the ever-changing nature of people and the environment. By juxtaposing elements of realism with imaginative storytelling, she hopes to create a dialogue between the familiar and the unknown.
