  • Biography

Bronwyn is largely self taught, but has studied at the Angel Academy, Florence and Bienarte Studio in Brisbane. I have been a finalist in The Dobell Drawing Prize, Art Gallery of Sydney, winner of the Gosford Art prize, received the Gold Medal at the RHS in London and numerous other art awards. My paintings are in numerous national and international collections including the Kew Gardens, London, The Hunt Institute, Boston and the High Court of Australia.

This painting was started during lockdown on our small farm in Mount Beauty, regional Victoria. Out the back was a huge grapefruit Tree, fully laden. So it was grapefruit for breakie, grapefruit marmalade and even grapefruit moonshine (fail). In the end, not wanting to waste those beautiful golden orbs I thought, " I know, I will paint them". And here it is.
I paint from life, and life decays, grows old, changes, deepens, becomes interesting. When painting still life, I seek out the imperfect, the misshapen, the damaged, the crumpled leaves and bits chewed by insects and birds.
