My name is Barbara Gleeson and I live in Australia, on the south coast of Victoria.
Involved with art from the time I can remember as a child, I chose a creative profession as a hairdresser and after retirement I began to work with my easel.
Having worked in oils and pastels, I then found graphite and coloured pencil as a medium. Both of these techniques concentrate on detailed line drawing and this then led on to engraving and scratchboard. These techniques have become my focus.
I love the flora and fauna that abound on this earth, and am fascinated by the wonders of the animal chain in nature.
My main interest is to reproduce images of the wildlife of Africa. I have traveled there numerous times and get goose bumps when I see the magnificent animals in the wild.
I suppose you could say I am somewhat eclectic, as I enjoy still life and portraits also, and get many commissions for pet portraits.
I just love the challenge and satisfaction I get from my work.
I have won various awards in the time I have been working.
