How to enter

Entries are made through the Gallery247 Web Site (www.gallery247.com.au). All the artists currently registered with us through our web site will be notified and invited to enter into the 2017 Show.

Artists initially submit paintings for assessment. Each work submitted will be accompanied by an initial entry fee of $10 (non-refundable). Submissions will require an image of each painting to be uploaded onto the web site in jpeg format. Submissions will include title, medium genre, base and size (in cm).

A  selection panel will assess the works by viewing the images uploaded and decide which will be invited to to exhibit at the Camberwell Art Show.

Artists will be notified by email which of their works have been accepted. If artists accept the invitation to exhibit, an exhibition fee of $20 per work will be due. Labels to be fixed to rear of paintings will be available to download.

Artist bio

Prospective buyers often ask for background information on artists. Within the Artist's personal file on the web site is the opportunity to provide your CV, artistic experience, academic training and any further details of interest to buyers. Artists are encouraged to do this to promote themselves and motivate sales.

Free entry

Artists who have had an entry accepted receive free entry on Artists' Day, Monday 10 July 2017 (paid entry at other times). Present your delivery docket to obtain admission.

Framing

Stretchered canvas is considered framed but must have rigid and adequate cross members. Each work must be fitted with substantial hanging wire or heavy-duty cord and 'flush D hangers.' [Hangers which protrude, e.g. 'eye hooks' and which can damage other works when stored are not acceptable.]. The apex of the hanging wire or cord should be approximately 75 mm. below the top of the frame.

Works that are not acceptable

Works of beaten metal, 3D, painted porcelain or ceramic, photographs, digitally enhanced artwork, 'worked' prints, prints including linocuts, monoprints, stencils, etc., etchings, pokerwork, pyrography, textile art works, bark arrangements, plaster relief work, unprotected tempera or wet paintings or works of a like nature of the above (as determined by the Club in its absolute discretion), are not acceptable.

GST

Artists fall into one of the following GST categories. Please supply information relevant to your situation.

Category 1: Professional artists who are registered for GST will charge GST and include it in their selling price. You may be asked to provide a Tax Invoice if your work is sold.

Category 2: Professional artists who are registered with an Australian Business Number [ABN] but not for GST.

Category 3: Hobby artists who are neither required to have an ABN nor GST registration will not include GST in their selling price and will not have an amount withheld for PAYG tax purposes from painting sales proceeds provided this category details are completed and this declaration is signed. The supply is made to you in my capacity as an individual, and the supply is made in the course of an activity that is a private recreational pursuit or hobby.

Category 4: Overseas entrants are advised to contact the Club by mail or e-mail for advice.

Category 5: Artists indicating none of the above information will be subject to Withholding Tax at the rate of 48.5% of the gross sale price.
